Practice conducting in 2-4 time signature with no music.
1. Start with your conducting stick at the top of the pattern.
2. Count 1-2 as you follow the pattern about 10 times.
When you are comfortable conducting the 2-4 pattern without music and can keep a steady beat, practice with *either* of the songs below.
1.  Start with your conducting stick at the top of the pattern.
2.  Wait for *two measures* of two beats of a high tone to play and then conduct using the 2-4 pattern through the entire song.
3. Practice this throughout the week until you are comfortable conducting the entire song.
HINT:
One beat = 1 quarter note or 2 eighth notes.  In the first measure of the song you will go down on "Mar-" and go back up on "had".
